New Career - Getting Started
A career in real estate is rewarding, exciting and challenging. You can go as far as your dreams, skills and hard work allow. But the first step requires a real estate license. You will need to take a PreLicensing real estate course, pass the class requirements, and then take the licensing exam. The exam consists of two parts, one for National Real Estate, and one for Virginia Real Estate.

Once you pass the state exam, then you apply to DPOR/VREM for your Virginia Real Estate License.
That license resides with an active licensed Real Estate Brokerage, and we would love you to consider Hometown Realty Services as the place to establish your new career.
In addition, there are other organizations and expenses that are part of creating your new business. You will join the National Association of REALTORS®, along with the Virginia and Richmond Associations. You will also join the local MLS, most likely Central Virginia Multiple Listing Service®. Like any other business, there is an initial cost to getting started in real estate.
